James SCARBOROUGH, his wife Sarah, and their children, William and Mary Ann, arrived in New York City from London, England aboard the Yorktown on November 12, 1855. They immediately settled in Hartland, Niagara, New York where they added six more children to their family. Most of the descendants of James and Sarah still live in Niagara, Orleans, and Genessee Counties. I am looking for contacts from all descending lines. Looking for Maria COTTON wife of Alvah SHELDON married September 1825. Maria born October 6, 1801 Berkshire County, MA; died 1883 Richland County, OH. Alvah born August 17, 1799 VT; died September 1858 Richland County, OH. Children: Nathan, Thomas, Emma, Mary (Polly), William, Francis, Sarah all born New York. Maria emigrated from MA to Penfield, NY about 1824 with her uncle (name unknown) and remained near Rochester NY (possibly Lockport) for 12 years. Family moved to Town of Royalton, Niagara County, NY about 1837, stayed until about 1855 and moved to New Philadelphia, OH and stayed there until Fall 1857 and moved to Jackson Township, Richland County, OH. SMITH, Francis Edmund

I am searching for the names of the parents of Francis Edmund SMITH, called Frank, born 23 Oct 1852 in Lockport, NY. His siblings were William, Lucy and Albert. Albert went to Waco, Tx. He was still alive after 1935. Frank moved west and on July 4, 1874,in Junction City, Ks. married Cynthia Ann BELDEN. She was born in Vermillion Ill. on 16 Nov 1854. They lived their whole married life in Kansas. They had seven children, my grandfather being one of them. Ross Francis Smith b. 7-9-1886,in Ks. Frank died in Winona, Ks. on 7-29-1935. I am trying to find out more information on a soldier I have a picture of. Can you help me? The soldier is WILLIAM SMITH, a resident of Lockport, Niagara County, NY. He was probably 23-33 years old at the time of the Civil War. He was living in Lockport at the time of his enlistment, and I found him there still on the 1890 Veterans' Census. William SONGS shows up in the 1850 Lockport, Niagara County, NY census, page 121. I wonder if he or any of the family show up in any history books of Niagara County, land records or atlas. SPRANG

Jacob LUDWIG was my fourth great-grandfather. He was born in 1792 in Pennsylvania and died in 1849. Sometime after 1810 he moved to Lockport, New York. He was a school teacher and in 1836 was elected Commissioner of Common Schools of Lockport. In 1837 he was elected Collector in Lockport, NY. He married Sarah SPRANG (1797-1873) and they had at least one son, Lewis J. LUDWIG, born Feb. 1828 and died in 1908 in Michigan. I am seeking information on Ephraim Hiram SQUIRE(S) born August 13, 1780 in Conneneticut. He was in the Niagara area during the War of 1812. He married a Sarah WILCOXS date of birth is April 4, 1787. (WILLCOCKS?) from New York in 1815. Ephraim's brother, Hiram G.D. SQUIRE was granted land in Nigara in 1849. In "Index of Deeds of Niagara County," Deed Index 1800-1860, Volume 455, p. 636 states that Hiram had Lot 43, Section ?, Town 15, Range 8.(transcribed from Book 41, p. 515, of the county records office). STOUT

Zebedee STOUT died March 23, 1850 and was buried in the Old Methodist Cemetery in Olcott, Niagara County, New York. He was survived by his second wife, Thankful. Zeb had these children: (1) John (2) Francis (3) Benjamin (4) Sarah (5) Arminda (6) Isaac (7) Seneca. The #2 son, Francis, was residing in Lenawee, Michigan at the time of Zebedee's death. I'm trying to find a will or obituary or other proof of the Zebedee - Francis father-son relationship. Zebedee's siblings had relationships with Masonic lodges in NY but I'm not aware of Zeb himself being a member (although he might have been). I am looking for information about David and Emaline SWEET who were living at Wilson, New York at the time of the 1850 Census. David Sweet was born in the state of Rhode Island about 1799; looking for location of birth in RI. Emaline was born abt 1805 in NY. They had five children: Cordelia born circa 1827, Frances born circa 1831, David born circa 1839, Henry born circa 1843 and Delaney born circa 1846. My gg-grandparents, William and Angeline (Briggs) Brewer were living with the Sweet family at the time of the 1850 census. Angeline's brother, George Briggs was also living there at that time. I am trying to verify the parents of Adelia Marie TAYLOR, born 1869, died 1892 (buried in North Ridge Cemetery); married Albert ('Bert') WHITWELL (born 1869, died 1955). We have found that Charles THORNTON, son of Solomon and Nancy THORNTON who lived in Wilson, New York. Nancy's maiden name was Sevens? Solomon signed that Charles was 18 when he entered the war in 1862. Charles married Myra Hopkins also of New York but we are not sure where. I do know they traveled by Ox team thru Canada to Mich. Several family members did not arrive in Mich. There are no records of marriages of Charlotte L.Townsend to Lorenzo Saddlesom November 29, 1870 in Cambria, NY. I don't know their denomination before they married, but I know that my grandmother was raised Christian Science. Where can I write for marriage records of their marriage? Also I am looking for tne marriage record of Charles Cabana and Ada Mae Saddlesom. They lived in Buffalo after they were married. I suspect they were married in Niagara County, but I still have no confirmation. John Arnold Treuthart ran for congress of the 40th districtin 1932. His farm was located 7 miles east of lockport onchestnut ridge road near mcall's corners.
