Sharpsteen, William, was born in Cayuga county, June 13, 1839, and is a son of Joshua M, andJerusha Sharpsteen, both natives of New York, who came to Niagara county and settled at Johnson's Creek in 1852. They had thirteen children: John, Charles, Joshua, William, Jane, Mary, now Mrs. I. E. Van Orthwick, and the others died when young. December 19, 1860. Mr. Sharpsteen married Catherine Phillips, and they have three children: Francis F., born January 17, 1865, died March 22, 1867; Carrie A., born January 24, 1867, now Mrs. Burt Smith; and Willie J., born November 3, 1869. Mr. Sharpsteen is engaged in farming and is a breeder of fine bred cattle. He is one of the most prosperous farmers in Niagara county.
