Murphy, James F., was born at Niagara Falls, N. Y., January 14, 1855. After his school days were ended he worked for three years in the office of D. J. Townsend, superintendent of Prospect Park, and for several years he devoted his time to landscape photographing. From 1882 to 1891 he served as town clerk of the town of Niagara, and in 1885 engaged in the insurance business; at the present time (1897) he has the largest agency in Western New York, representing the best of the standard stock companies doing business in the State.
