Kinney, John F., sheriff of Niagara county, was born at Newfane, N. Y., August 24, 1856. He attended the public schools of his native town and was engaged in farming until 1883, when he removed to Lockport and entered into the hay and produce business, in which he was engaged for four years. He was at this date appointed jailer, which position he held for three years, when he became deputy sheriff, holding that position for three years, then undersheriff for three years and in 1896 was elected sheriff for a term of three years. He was married January 26, 1891, to Minnie E. Brockin of Niagara Falls. N. Y.
