Allan, William, was born in Scotland, and came to America in 1883, settling in North Tonawanda, after traveling considerably over the Union. He is the leading builder of the city and has put up many of the finest buildings in the place, including the residences of Messrs. Spilman, Bliss and Batt, his own, and others. He also built the armory in Tonawanda, the best in the State. Mr. Allan is a member of the Odd Fellows, is a past-grand of the Subordinate Lodge and chief patriarch in the Local Encampment; he is also a member of the Masonic fraternity. In 1889 he married Anna Sticht, of Fort Plain and they have two children, Cora and Walter. Mr. Allan has two children, William and James, by his first wife who lived in Scotland.
